The First Foundation is…Clarify Your Vision

Did you know the average business owner works triple the hours of the average white collar employee in the US?

If you’re one of them…you may have thought, “Only triple?”

(I hope not, but I am trying to be realistic.)

Have you ever looked at your calendar and wondered what you’ve gotten yourself into?

Since I’m assuming you created your business for more freedom (not less) that’s a big problem!

If that dread has crept up on you day after day, you need to read this series of posts.

You need to get out of this vicious cycle.

And the way out is through the five foundations of freedom, flexibility and fun.

Sound like things you want?

I mean, really, who doesn’t want freedom, flexibility and fun?

You need all five foundations to get there, and I am going to help you.

The first foundation is: Clarify Your Vision.

“What do I want?” is the most important question and often the hardest to answer.

Without an answer, we’re driving around without an address.

Without a clear vision, entrepreneurs approach their business all wrong.

They are constantly in a “just keep all the balls in the air” perspective.

There’s no plan.

No strategy.

No purpose.

No stopping point.

It’s exhausting.

And truth be told, neither your life nor your business can flourish or grow in this state.

Without a clear vision, you are reacting instead of creating.

Lack of a clear vision is absolutely the beginning of being overwhelmed by your business.

It is what keeps you a worker bee forever – instead of running a kick-ass hive.

Without a vision, you aren’t in control or in the driver’s seat.

Instead, you are focused with your head down – never looking up.

Do you know what happens when you never look up?

You get run over by a train.

Or walk into a pole.

Or trip and fall.

There is no strategy.

There is no direction.

All you see are the trees and you assume you are in a giant forest – but do you know for sure?

You need a bird’s eye view of your business to clarify your vision.

So, and I say this with love, pick your damn head up and look around!

When a business owner is missing a clear, specific vision, every single intention, goal or dream they have is doomed before they ever start.

As Ferris Bueller said, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while…you could miss it.”

Next week we will talk a little about the second foundation – Create Your Plan.

Until then…stay connected!
